Summit County, Ohio plans to change its animal control ordinances to reflect changes at the state level in how potentially dangerous dogs are classified. During the Council’s Rules Committee meeting on August 20, members recommended Council adopt the changes, which came about because of House Bill 14 regarding dangerous dogs. The amended ordinance provides definitions of nuisance dogs, dangerous dogs and vicious dogs, and removes references to dogs by breed.
Residents of Summit County are encouraged to reach out to county officials ans thank them for taking this step and to let them know you support the move to repeal the breed specific language in their current ordinance.
