BSL – Please Take Action! (9/07/09)

There are currently a lot of BSL “hot spots” around the country.  Please use the informtion found on this page to write letters in an effort to head off breed specific legislation.  It is so important that we all make an effort to fight BSL whenever it comes up — whether it be across the country or in your own backyard.  We need to unite and help each other because you never know… YOUR town could be next.

In an effort to keep us updated on new alerts for cities considering breed specific legislation, as well as to not let older alerts “fall off our radar,” this page is dedicated to keeping us all updated on BSL issues needing our immediate attention.

Below is a listing of areas currently considering breed specific legislation, along with contact information for the respective city officials.

Please send your POLITE, RESPECTFUL AND INFORMATIVE opposition to BSL, as well as educational materials and viable alternatives to breed specific laws. I cannot stress enough how very important it is to maintain respectful and polite communications with city officials!! Negative communication can and does have a negative impact on the impression we as a whole make on officials.

Elyria, Ohio

Upcoming city council meetings:   September 8, 2009 and September 21, 2009.  The Law Director is drafting a law to ban pit bulls in the city limits.  The ordinance will be presented to the safety committee once completed.
