If you’re going to be out and about in the Nashville area this Saturday, come on by Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control and say hello to me and Harlan!
Bless the Bullys has been invited to participate in the 10th annual North Shore Animal League’s Tour for Life event– the world’s largest cooperative pet adoption event.
As most people are aware, the Metro Nashville shelter does not release pit bulls to the public or to rescue. As far as I know, the only two pit bulls ever released from the Metro shelter, Blanca and Felicity, were released to me, and both of those very lucky girls have found forever homes. But two dogs out of thousands isn’t even a drop in the bucket…
The invitation extended to me and Harlan means a lot as its an opportunity to show off a true breed ambassador and change some minds about pit bulls. While it may be a baby step, if we continually highlight these wonderful dogs, perhaps one day pit bulls will be given the same opportunity as any other dog who find himself abandonned and alone in the shelter for no fault of his own.
I participated in the event a few years ago, but was not permitted to bring a dog with me. We’ve at least broken that barrier this year, and Harlan will be there dazzling everyone with his incredible silly and playful personality!
Please come out and say hello. We’ll be there from 10:00 to 4:00!
