Very disappointing news out of Seward County, Kansas. Earlier this month, the commission voted to repeal a twenty-year-old ordinance banning pit bulls, but at the April 18 commission meeting, the county attorney provided the board with two resolutions – one for vicious dogs and the other for the regulation of pit bulls.
The commission will host a work session at a later date to consider whether they will once again implement a breed specific ordinance or pass a breed-neutral ordinance that focuses on “vicious dogs” regardless of breed.
Please send your POLITE, RESPECTFUL and INFORMATIVE letters in opposition to BSL, as well as your suggestions and alternatives, to the Seward County officials. Please encourage the county commission to move forward with an ordinance that places the onus on problem dog owners regardless of the breed of dog they own.
