Lowell, MA: One step closer to pit bull regulations

At last night’s city council meeting in Lowell, MA, the city moved one step closer to requiring that pit bulls be muzzled in public. The council directed the city solicitor to draft a muzzle ordinance similar to those in Boston and Worcester.

The council will discuss the drafted ordinance at next Tuesday’s public safety subcommittee meeting, and will vote on whether to forward the ordinance to a public hearing.

Councilors Rodney Elliott, Edward “Bud” Caulfield, Kevin Broderick, Bill Martin and Rita Mercier voted to move forward in the process.

Mayor Jim Milinazzo, Councilor Franky Descoteaux and Councilor Patrick Murphy voted against drafting an ordinance.

Please continue to contact the Lowell city officials with your POLITE, RESPECTFUL and INFORMATIVE opposition to BSL. Please also send your suggestions and alternatives for their consideration.
