Nancy McAdam has nominated tonight’s National Pit Bull Awareness Month honoree – Debbie Wilke founder of It’s a Pittie Rescue in Peotone, IL.
Debbie worked with Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue for a long time, then founded her own bully breed rescue to improve the chances of the dogs from poverty-stricken Gary, IN getting rescued and adopted! Debbie has a great string of foster homes, and all the dogs get individualized evaluations from the fosters. Deb also has dog training classes at a pet store. Her rescue specializes in taking bully breeds from high kill animal controls. They do fund raisers and adoption events and spend a lot of time and effort into finding good homes for these often misunderstood dogs
