DONNELLSON — Several citizens attended the regular meeting of the Donnellson City Council Monday to voice their opinions on a possible vicious dog ban that is currently being discussed. In response to numerous complaints from residents, the council voted last month to have an ordinance drawn up by City Attorney Greg Johnson.

The ordinance would limit the type of dogs that could be kept within city limits, banning dogs of breeds deemed “vicious.” The ordinance was not completed in time for Monday’s meeting, and the council decided they will take another month to consider how they want the ordinance to read before voting on it at their next regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 5. If approved, three readings would be held before the ordinance could go into effect.
