The city of West Fork, Arkansas is considering a ban on “pit bulls” in order to “cut down on the number of animals running loose.” The proposed ordinance would ban “pit bulls” in the city limits and grandfather in existing “pit bulls.” In addition, I’ve received information that American bulldogs would also be targeted by the proposal.
The city will hold a public hearing on the proposed ban TONIGHT, May 8, 2012, at 6:00 p.m., at the City Administration building, located at 262 Main Street, West Fork, Arkansas. The city clerk has confirmed that the council will then vote on the ordinance at the council meeting that starts at 7:00 p.m., immediately after the public hearing.
Members of the public can speak at the hearing. There will be a sign-in sheet that you must place your name upon arrival if you wish to address the council during the hearing.
Please take a moment today prior to tonight’s hearing to voice your polite, respectful and informative opposition to breed specific legislation. Please provide the city officials with alternatives and suggestions for their consideration.
If you are in the West Fork area, please make every effort to attend the public hearing and council meeting tonight.
