National Pit Bull Awareness Day is Oct. 26!

On Saturday, October 26, 2013, pit bull advocates across the United States, Canada and Germany will participate in an array of events that highlight the grouping of dogs commonly known as “pit bulls” as the loving, loyal, comedic and endearing family companions, athletes, service and therapy dogs they are!

National Pit Bull Awareness Day (NPBAD) was established in 2007 as a day to educate and foster positive communications and experiences in the communities in which we and our dogs live.  It is a day to focus on these incredible dogs and their devoted, responsible owners —  a day to change perceptions and stereotypes, dispel myths, and to celebrate an American icon.

The American Pit Bull Terrier is one of the most popular family dogs in the United States, and NPBAD is an opportunity for owners and advocates to demonstrate in their own unique and creative ways exactly what makes these dogs beloved members of so many families across the country, why a “pit bull” may or may not be the breed for your family, and responsible ownership practices that benefit our dogs and our communities.

NPBAD is a one-of-a-kind nationwide initiative to bring positive attention to pit bulls and their devoted, responsible owners all across the county on one very special day.

Find an event in your area (see the list below), and help change a few hearts and minds about pit bulls!  Visit the NPBAD website for specific details and contact information for each event.
